My current work encompasses education, outreach, and applied research focused on water and soil management in coastal watersheds, specifically in agricultural areas. I conducted scientific research in coral reef ecology for six years between 1998 and 2004. Since 2004, my professional interests and academic background have expanded to include a broader range of topics and disciplines. Currently, I work with farmers on the central coast of California, helping them integrate conservation practices into their production systems to prevent contamination of aquifers and surface waters near the sea, and to increase their resilience to the impacts of climate change. In my current position (since 2012), I have contributed to the development and implementation of soil conservation programs and climate change mitigation efforts in California, and have also participated in spatial analysis and economic valuation of ecosystem services and aquifer recharge projects.
