Gabriela Navarrete Forero, MSc

I am a biologist and ecologist specializing in studies on the ecology of tropical artisanal fisheries. I have worked on participatory mapping of fishing areas, catch characterization, fish stock assessment, and the socioeconomic aspects of fishing activities. I have also studied ghost fishing gear (abandoned, lost, or discarded gear in the water) in Ecuador and Colombia. From 2022 to 2024, I coordinated the Ecomares project on this topic in the Gulf of Tribugá. Additionally, I have over ten years of experience as an editor of educational texts in natural sciences.
