Dr. Carlos G. Muñoz

I am a marine ecologist with experience in environmental research and consultancy in reef environments. My main focus is on the fish and corals of shallow tropical environments. I have participated in the planning, execution, and management of various projects, expeditions, and ecological monitoring programs in the Pacific and Caribbean coasts of Colombia. I have worked on aspects such as biodiversity, community structure and conservation status, coral reproduction, and coral predation by fish. Recently, I have worked on public tenders and private contracts, including activities such as ecological characterization for the management of underwater ecotourism, environmental mitigation and compensation plans, including the rescue and relocation of benthic organisms, as well as the installation and monitoring of coral nurseries for ecological restoration in protected marine areas. I am the author of scientific publications, outreach materials, and technical documents, including the current Coral Reef Management Plan for the Gorgona National Natural Park.
