Protegiendo el mar y sus ecosistemas marinos contra los peligros de las artes de pesca fantasma y otros desechos generados por el ser humano

Desde 2023, los Guardianes del Mar, un grupo conformado por 13 personas (9 hombres y 4 mujeres) del municipio de Nuquí se dedican a retirar artes de pesca perdidas, abandonadas o descartadas (denominadas “pesca fantasma”) en los arrecifes del Golfo de Tribugá, norte del Pacífico colombiano. La “pesca fantasma” amenaza la biodiversidad marina y afecta directamente a más de 7.000 habitantes de nueve comunidades costeras que dependen de la pesca artesanal y el turismo.

Ghost Fishing Management in the Colombian Pacific

On September 1st, 2022, ECOMARES and the German Agency for International Cooperation (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit - GIZ GmbH) initiated the donation agreement #81286967 for the implementation of the project "Ghost Fishing Management in the Colombian Pacific through a Community Strategy".

One Million Corals Project for Colombia
