The Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean, which extends from the Gulf of California in the north to Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands, and the Chilean oceanic islands of Easter Island and Sala y Gómez in the south, and borders the western coast of South and Central America, has not escaped this heatwave.


Diving Planet winners of the PADI Project Aware
Our partners at Diving Planet are the proud winners of the PADI Project Aware grant. The funds from this grant will be allocated to the sexual reproduction project for coral reefs in the Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo National Natural Park, led by Ecomares' director, Elvira Alvarado Chacón.

The United Nations has provided a review of the "One Million Corals for Colombia" project.
The "One Million Corals for Colombia" project, an initiative by the Colombian government with a group of strategic allies including Ecomares, has attracted international attention. On this occasion, the United Nations has featured the project, referring to it as "the largest coral reef restoration."

Ecomares participated in the 15th International Coral Reef Symposium (ICRS) held in Germany.

Restoring reefs
In February, the Foundation carried out ecological restoration activities on coral reefs in the Rosario Islands. One of the species studied was Acropora cervicornis, commonly known as the staghorn coral, which is an endangered species.
